Workshop: Mosaics

Mosaic floors, popular in ancient Greek and Roman culture, saw a resurgence in popularity during the Victorian period and are a common feature on the floors of Glaswegian Tenements and Town Houses.

Conservator Meredith Macbeth will look at the history of this fascinating craft covering both historic geometric designs and the materials used to make them.

A unique opportunity to discover this fascinating craft through practical exploration. During the workshop participants will have the chance to design and make a small mosaic panel giving a taster of the skills and knowledge required for the craft.
