A Century After Addison: What is the Legacy of Social Housing and Tower Blocks?

26 June 2019 | 6-8pm | Main Hall, Knightswood Community Centre, 201 Alderman Rd, Glasgow G13 3DD

A century after the 1919 Addison Act set off a social housing revolution in the UK, you are invited to join a discussion about the lost architectural and social heritage of Glasgow’s tower blocks – which have now been almost completely demolished – as well as any problems they may have created and the state of social housing today.

Join us for a panel discussion with Karen Pickering (Chair), Director, Page/Park Architects, Marija Nemchenko artist, Professor Ade Kearns of the University of Glasgow, Lisa Peebles activist, tenant on the Southside, and former board member of the Scottish Housing Regulator and Simon Metcalfe, Head of Development, New Gorbals Housing Association.

This event will be FREE but booking is essential. If you have experience of living in a tower block or social housing in Glasgow and may be interested in participating in this event we would love to hear from you – email us: events@glasgowheritage.org.uk

This event will take place in the Main Hall at Knightswood Community Centre.
