Join Judith Bowers in a celebration of the nation’s favourite building: the pub. A history which is often taken for granted, but is at the heart of every community. The Historic Pub Tour journeys into the origins of some of Scotland’s most famous beverages, their cultural influence and the impact of this bibulous pastime on the city’s growth and development.
Four pubs will be included on this tour: The Scotia, Clutha, Sloan’s and Rab Ha’s. Please note that the cost of drinks are not included in the price of this tour, but we hope that you will enjoy a tipple on the way.
The tour should last around two hours in total and will include stories of merchants, characters like Rab Ha, tales of temperance, how Iron Brew (Irn Bru) was invented, and the origin of terms like ‘hang-over’ and ‘steaming’. There is a lot of humour, but all the stories told are from the archives!
