Now almost completely hidden in subterranean tunnels, the Molendinar Burn was the true heart of medieval Glasgow. Although only small in size, the first streets and communities of our modern city grew up alongside its waters as they fell from the hills high above the cathedral down to the banks of the Clyde, eventually transforming a quiet valley into a powerful city.
Beginning at the cathedral, public historian Fergus Sutherland will lead you along the route of the Molendinar down the Drygate and the High Street to Spoutmouth, Glasgow Green and finally to where it joins the river near the ancient ford which linked the low town with Gorbals.
