Tommy McGoran, a 97-year-old Glasgow artist, has been painting since his retirement in 1988. Born in Ayrshire in 1927, he discovered his passion for art later in life when his wife gifted him oil paints and brushes. His work vividly captures memories of Glasgow from the 1930s and beyond, portraying childhood games, tenements, and everyday life with remarkable detail.

McGoran’s paintings have been displayed in pop-up galleries, allowing the public to experience his nostalgic depictions of the city. He recently released a book, A Glasgow Memoir, which explores his recollections of a bygone era. His art serves as a time capsule, preserving the essence of a Glasgow that once was.

Join Tommy in conversation with Lost Glasgow’s Norry Wilson to find out more about his life and work.
