Traditional Building Skills Apprenticeship Event

Have you ever carved stone or slated a roof? Do you fancy dressing lead or trying traditional joinery?

Glasgow’s Traditional Building Forum is offering an exciting opportunity to try your hand at some unique craft building skills at its Buchanan Street event.

We will be running short taster workshops in: –

  • Stone Carving
  • Roof slating
  • Lead dressing
  • Joinery
  • Painting and Decorating

Workshops will run between 10am – 12pm and 1pm – 3pm on the 24th and 25th of April.

This event is open to all school children between S1 and upwards.

All attendees will need to book in advance and be be accompanied by a teacher or responsible adult.

We recommend using public transport to reach the traditional building skills apprenticeship event. The event is located next to Buchanan Street underground station and within a 5 min walk from Buchanan Bus Station and Central and Queen street train stations.

If travelling by car, the nearest pay and display car park is in the Buchanan Galleries shopping centre.

Glasgow City Heritage Trust and the Glasgow Traditional Building Forum are unable to provide transport, or funding for transport, to and from the event.
