Lecture and Exhibition Launch

The Garden Suburb on the Grid and Pollokshields Oral Histories

To accompany the East Pollokshields Exhibition Launch, GCHT intern, Ross Wylie, will speak about the origins and development of this Victorian Garden Suburb and cover a range of topics including tenement living, historic architecture and green spaces on the East Pollokshields grid. The lecture will also consider the legacy of Victorian planning and design in the 21st century and how the lessons of the past can be incorporated in planning for the future.

Dr. Sue Morrison will discuss her work for the publication She Settles in the Shields as well as her upcoming oral history work in the area. Sue is a professional historian with a varied background which includes academic research and teaching, project and business management, and community volunteering.
