Our Training grants are open for applications!

Training Grants help fund people to learn traditional skills and/or access professional development opportunities in Scotland’s built environment.

Through these grants, GCHT aims to support people at all stages of their careers to help build the skills needed to care for Scotland’s historic buildings and places.

Who can apply?

Applications are open to people 18 or over who are (or would like to be) working or studying in Scotland’s built environment.

What are we looking for?

Grants are available from £100 to £1,000 and can help cover the cost of things like:

  • Traditional skills training
  • Educational courses
  • Apprenticeships
  • Attending workshops or seminars
  • Internships (either as a host or participant)

When reviewing applications, we’ll look at its potential long-term impact and how it supports the needs of the historic environment, or helps address skills shortages. We’ll also consider how realistic and achievable the proposed application is.

If you’re successful, we’ll ask you to complete a short evaluation at the end of your project. This can be submitted as a written report or through an interview. It should tell us how you used the funding, what you learned, and how the experience has contributed to the wider historic environment sector.

Please note: 10% of your grant will be held back until your evaluation has been completed.

How to apply

Applying is simple. Just complete our short application form, telling us a little about:

  • What you’d like to use the training grant for and how it relates to the historic built environment
  • What you hope to gain from the opportunity and how this will positively impact the historic built environment

Application Form

Once completed, please send your application form to info@glasgowheritage.org.uk.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until the end of March 2027. We aim to contact applicants within 21 days of receiving their application.
